How to get Gold Bars in Fortnite

There are three primary ways to get Gold Bars in Fortnite:

  • Eliminating other players
  • Opening chests
  • Completing Bounties

You typically get a few Gold Bars for opening chests that you find throughout the map. Loot chests are common, so you’ll end up accumulating a lot of Gold Bars just through playing the game like usual. If you tend to rack up a lot of frags every match, that’s another excellent way to increase your Gold Bar stack.

Try and start a bounty whenever you encounter an NPC on the map. Starting bounties gives you five minutes to eliminate a random player. You will see a marker revealing their approximate location to help you hunt them down. The nice thing about bounties is that it doesn’t matter if you are the one that eliminates your target. If they die in any manner, you’ll get credit and a portion of the Gold Bars as a reward.

What do you use Gold Bars for in Fortnite?

You can use Gold Bars at any of the 40 characters found throughout the map in Fortnite’s fifth season. For example, you can speak to Lexa over at Hunter’s Haven to pick up a Storm Scout rifle for 1,225 Gold Bars. The price may be steep, but the items you can buy are often quite powerful and could win you the match.

Another option is using Gold Bars at the characters to reveal nearby Treasure Chests. Long story short, you can use Gold Bars for various things at the NPCs around the map. The new currency is a welcome change to the game and opens up another avenue to obtain loot.
