How to Defeat Heket in Cult of the Lamb

Get Ready for a Frog-ocious Battle!

In Cult of the Lamb, there are four Bishops who stand in the way of The One Who Waits. Between Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura, these false prophets will do everything they can to prevent your malicious benefactor from being freed. So, it’s up to you to systematically take them and their minions down.

In the torched autumn fields of Anura, where Heket rules with an iron fist, you’ll face three mini bosses before you encounter the Bishop. These mini bosses are usually larger versions of mob enemies you face in the Lands of the Old Faith. But, they can also be converted to your cult upon their defeat, so they’re worth fighting. Here’s what you can expect from the battle against the second Bishop, Heket.

How to Beat Heket

Heket is a tad bit more difficult than their younger sibling, Leshy. But, a lot of the same general strategies carry over to this battle. It’s still very important to over-use the dodge-roll, because Heket has a tendency of slamming on the ground, which can cause unwanted damage.

Like in the fight against Leshy, Heket will summon mobs to distract you from your main target. It’s still a sound strategy to ignore as many of these as you can without being overwhelmed. But, if you need to take a couple out here and there, there’s no real reason not to.

As I mentioned, their primary attack is to hop — they are a frog, after all — and slam on the ground, but as long as you’re out of range, you can dodge the shockwaves. Like in Leshy’s fight, Heket will toss bombs in your general direction. But, as long as you’re not caught in the target, they won’t cause damage.

Heket’s tertiary ability is also rather easy to dodge. They’ll shoot their tongue out at you, which gets stuck on the arena, giving you a prime opportunity to get some hits in. In an evolution of the abovementioned bomb tossing ability, Heket can rapid-fire bombs all over the arena. In addition, they will spit out a hive of explosive insects that will cause damage if you run into them. To make matters worse, these insects follow you around the arena, but they are incredibly slow. They’ll also explode on their own after a few seconds. If you’re feeling particularly daring, these explosive, homing insects can be attacked and killed.

So; surely that’s all of Heket’s moves, right?! No! As soon as you’ve reduced their health to a quarter left, they’ll swap places with some formidable minions. In this phase, if you want to attack Heket, you’ll have to wait until you’ve defeated these substitute minions, at which point, they’ll reappear. Thankfully, these minions aren’t any worse than the ones you’ve faced so far, so just stay focused and take them out.

If you survive the onslaught of frog-ocious assaults, you’ll be able to claim the heart of your enemy. You’ll be given some gold, and The One Who Waits will have one more of their chains removed. Don’t lose focus — there are still two more Bishops, and the next one is perhaps the most formidable.
