How to beat Cliff in Pokemon Go for July 2020

Here’s a look at Leader Cliff’s line-up so you can prepare yourself for the battle. Cliff’s first Pokemon will always be Grimer, following by either Omastar, Electivire, and Machamp. Lastly, Cliff will put out either Tyranitar, Swampert, or Torterra. Let’s dive into each Pokemon’s weaknesses and the best strategy.

Pokemon #1

  • Grimer: Poison-type

Grimer is weak to Psychic and Ground. A good strategy might be to use Landorus since he can resist both fast attacks Grimer can have. The double resistance makes this fight a breeze. Bronzong with Psychic attacks is another good pick here, as Grimer is weak to Psychic-type. Considering Bronzong is also steel-type, it will resist the poison attacks.

One thing to keep in mind is that all the team leaders will shield the first two attacks you do. You don’t need to waste your time powering up your attacks since you know they will be blocked.

Pokemon #2

  • Omastar: Rock/Water-type
  • Electivire: Electric-type
  • Machamp: Fighting-type

Omastar is weak to Grass, Ground, Fighting, and Electric. Electivire is vulnerable to Ground, and Machamp is weak to Fairy, Flying, and Psychic. If Electivire is the second play, your Landorus will still do quite well. If, however, Omastar comes out second, you would do well with a Victrebel, Ferrothorn, or fighting types.

Pokemon #3

  • Tyranitar: Rock/Dark-type
  • Swampert: Water/Ground-type
  • Torterra: Grass/Ground-type

Tyranitar is weak to Fighting, Fairy, Ground, Bug, Steel, Water, and Grass, while Swampert is weak to Grass. Torterra is weak to Ice, Fire, Flying, and Bug. If Tyranitar comes out as the third Pokemon, your Landorus still may have enough health to take him out as well, for a flawless victory. When Cliff throws a Torterra at you, something like Articuno would be an excellent option for double-super-effective damage.

It all comes down to which Pokemon you have available in your roster. There are an endless amount of possibilities when it comes to figuring out how to beat Cliff in Pokemon Go for July 2020. Some successful line-ups have been:

  • Snorlax, Metagross, and Arcanine
