How Do You Make and Use Sheet Rope in Project Zomboid

The apocalypse has never been so daring!

How do you make and use a sheet rope in Project Zomboid? It’s a question that every survivor will ask at some point in their run. Especially once they realize just how powerful sheet ropes actually are. Zombies cannot climb your sheet ropes, meaning you can use them to create a genuinely invulnerable base – if you know what you’re doing.

Making sheet rope in Project Zomboid is incredibly easy. First, you need to have an article of clothing in your inventory. Socks, skirts, and shirts are all fair game here. The list of cloth items you can use for sheet rope is so exhaustive that it would be a wasted effort trying to list them all. If you’re wearing clothes – then you’re probably good to go.

With those clothes in your inventory, open up your crafting menu. This is the hammer and ruler symbol on the side of your screen. In that menu, navigate to the “general” tab. Once there, you should be able to see sheet ropes available for crafting. Click on them, craft one, and your character will use up the clothes to construct the rope.

Once you have your sheet rope in Project Zomboid, you actually need to put it to use. Unfortunately, it’s not enough to just tie one end of the rope to a bed prison break style. Instead, you’ll have to nail it to the windowsill using a nail and a hammer. So, if you don’t have those items, you won’t be able to use your sheet rope.

Once you do have everything you need in your inventory, head up to your second-story window of choice. Right-click and open the window if it’s closed. You’ll also want to open the curtains and get rid of any barricades – obviously.

In the right-click menu, you should see “Add Escape Rope,” click on that option and your character will attach the sheet rope to the window. Now, anytime you go to jump out that window, you’ll use the rope instead. You can also use the rope to climb back up into the window from the outside – so you can use them to create yourself an impenetrable second-story fortress.
