How to Use Nitrous in Gran Turismo 7

Nitrous is an essential part of racing games, although you typically find them with street racing titles like Need for Speed or Burnout, not driving simulation games like Gran Turismo 7. So, the fact that nitrous has been implemented into GT7 is an absolute game-changer. Here is everything you need to know about how to get and use Nitrous in Gran Turismo 7.

Nitrous (nitrous oxide or NOS) is a compound of fuel mixtures that provides a massive speed boost to any vehicle for a short duration of time. In Gran Turismo 7, this feature can get your car from 50 to 200 MPH in seconds, making it an essential attachment to get your hands on, especially since not all cars come with a NOS system already installed.

How to use Nitrous in Gran Turismo 7

The first step to using nitrous in Gran Turismo 7 is to raise your ‘Collector Level’ in the World Map’s Tuning Shop to level 7. This will enable you to use ‘Extreme’ car parts, at which point you can then purchase and install a Nitrous system into your vehicle for 100,000 Credits. It’s a rather hefty price tag, so you will want to ensure that you save it for one of your top and most heavily-used vehicles.

After you’ve installed the Nitrous system in the car of your choice, you will then be able to activate it in Gran Turismo 7 by pressing down on the R3 button for PS4 or PS5. That being said, you can always change the setup of your controls if you find the default controls to be too difficult or uncomfortable. As a reminder, nitrous only works in races and is not available in time trials or multiplayer (by default).

After you’ve hit the NOS, you will need to pay attention to the Nitro Tank in the lower right-hand corner of the HUD, indicating how much nitrous is left in the tank. Once you’ve activated it, the gauge will turn red and slowly shrink down as you continue to use it.

Using Nitrous in Gran Turismo 7 can certainly provide a much-needed boost, but it’s better on some courses than others. Specifically, the Northern Isle Speedway or Special Stage Route X. You should try to save it for tracks that feature more straightaways and not a ton of heavy turns since it can be too overpowering at times, and you only have a limited amount.
