Elden Ring Patch 1.04 Changes

Here's what's new in Elden Ring patch 1.04.

Aside from initial foibles with framerates on the PC version, the initial launch of Elden Ring was surprisingly solid, with no other major complaints from the community. Even so, games are living things, especially ones as gigantic as Elden Ring, so there’s always new tweaks to make and new bugs to suss out. Here are the Elden Ring patch 1.04 changes.

Elden Ring Patch 1.04 Changes

You can read the full patch notes for version 1.04 on Bandai Namco’s website, but if you’re in a hurry, here are a few standout tidbits:

  • Camera tweaks
  • New Patches dialogue
  • Colossal Weapon improvements
  • Numerous sorcery and incantation buffs
  • Weapon skill buffs
  • Bug fixes

Camera Tweaks

Getting tired of your camera getting itself stuck in weird places in the middle of a fight? Now you can turn off camera auto-rotation in the game’s options!

New Patches Dialogue

Everyone’s favorite quasi-useful merchant, Patches, has received some new event phases. The precise phases haven’t been revealed, but go have a chat with him and see if he has anything new to say.

Colossal Weapon Improvements

Colossal Weapons and Swords are supposed to offer high strength in exchange for slow speed and heavy weight, but a lot of them don’t really satisfy that. To even the odds, all weapons in both categories now attack faster, have shorter recovery times, deal more damage when wielded with both hands, and have a higher physical guard rate.

Sorcery and Incantation Buffs

If you’ve been relying exclusively on a handful of sorceries and incantations, you might want to check your spellbook again, because a large number of both have just been overhauled. Many spells and incantations, including Magma Shot, Ancient Dragon’s Lightning Spear, and Scouring Black Flame to name a few, have had their cast times sped up, recovery times reduced, and in some cases, damages boosted and stamina costs slashed.

Weapon Skill Buffs

In the same vein as sorceries and incantations, many weapon skills have been tweaked as well. This includes both Ash of War skills like Sacred Blade and Shield Bash and skills unique to certain weapons like Nebula on Bastard’s Stars and Unblockable Blade on Coded Sword. These skills come out faster and have decreased recovery times, among other boosts.

Bug Fixes

Many little hiccups have been addressed, from weird hitboxes to improper damage metrics. Also, Millicent now has a barrier after you help her at Miquella’s Haligtree, just so you don’t kill her by accident.
