Can You Side With the Goblins in Hogwarts Legacy? Answered

Come on over to the goblin side

The world of Harry Potter is full of creatures and beasts that may or may not be dangerous. The Wizarding World has come under fire the last few years for its depiction of “evil” creatures as well. This isn’t even the only fantasy franchise to do so. The more gaming culture progresses the more people feel like orcs, goblins, minotaurs, and other similar humanoid creatures shouldn’t necessarily be automatically “evil”. Whatever your thought o the matter, Hogwarts Legacy is mostly going the ‘evil’ goblin route, or so it would seem. There’s a bit of political juggling in the game about what side is good or bad and why but it doesn’t really get to blend it the way more complex games do. That being said, can you side with the Goblins in Hogwarts Legacy?

About the Goblings in Hogwarts Legacy

The short answer about siding with the Goblins is “basically no, not really”. However, there is more to what that really entails. There is not an alignment system, but you can learn Dark Wizard spells. You basically can be bad and treat NPCs badly and there are no real story repercussions for it. How interesting.

It’s a bit muddy ad honestly unsure if the Goblins are really freedom fighters, terrorists, or just innocent mind/body-controlled bystanders forced by Dark Wizards with secret agendas. To go deeper even if you do side with the Dark Wizards and learn dark magic, it’s not really you ‘helping’ the goblins per say.

The game is still pretty fresh but there seem to be 3 possible outcomes in the game. You can choose to learn Dark Magic and become a Dark Wizard, but the ending doesn’t seem to be too tragic or applaud your evil deeds like other games with alignment endings do. It just kind of happens and you’re a bad kid… moving on.
