Oh, how much I hated those, but enjoyed them nonetheless. Anyway, sometimes a good defense is a great offense, so the shield was a very essential part of God of War’s combat and still is in God of War Ragnarök. Using every ability that the shield brings is essential. I remember getting throughout my first run of God of War’s campaign without Shield Blocking. Imagine how I felt when I realized I could do that all along. Anyway, now there are 5 shields available in this game. What is the best shield to use in God of War Ragnarök?

Whenever I ask a question, I get really frustrated and discouraged when the answer is “it depends”. So what is the best shield to use in God of War Ragnarök? Well, it depends. Now, hear me out before you ask for my resignation. Every player has its own way of confronting challenges in the game, specially combat-wise. So in order to answer the question, there are actually TWO best shields in God of War Ragnarök, depending on your play style. Here are the two of those:

• Guardian Shield: our good old buddy from the previous game. If you are a parry maniac, this is the way to go. The Dauntless shield my sound very attractive and shiny, but its parry timeframes are actually worse than that of the Guardian Shield. So don’t waste your time picking and pick the Guardian shield. Unless…
• Stone Wall Shield: now, if you aren’t very fond of parrying or are looking for something more defensive, then this is your best choice, my friend. The Stone Wall Shield has the ability Shield Slam that will block and store all damage and turns it to an epic explosion. So if you’re into the explosive stuff, then go ahead and Stone-Wall your shield.
