PlayStation Bringing Trophies to Classic PS1 and PS2 Games on PS Plus

Calling all trophy hunters!!

SIE Bend Studio, known for creating 1999’s Syphon Filter, in addition to titles such as Bubsy 3D and Days Gone, has announced that the stealth classic will include trophies when it arrives on the new PlayStation Plus in June. Based on the fact that Sony Interactive Entertainment has been given a patent that would award trophies through emulation, it stands to reason that there will be other classic games given this modern feature.

Playstation Bringing Classic Trophies to PS Plus

In addition to Syphon Filter, a number of classic titles will be available for all PlayStation Plus Premium members, including Ape Escape, Jumping Flash!, Mr. Driller, Tekken 2, and more! It has not been revealed as of writing if each of these games will include trophy support, though the knowledge that they can is enticing.

PlayStation Plus will relaunch on May 24 in Asia, on June 2 in Japan, on June 13 in North and South America, and on June 23 in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. It will be divided up into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium.

Essential will include online multiplayer access, two PS4 games, and one PS5 game per month, and will cost $9.99 per month, $24.99 for three months, or $59.99 per year. Extra will net players all benefits from the Essential plan, in addition to the Game Catalog, featuring hundreds of downloadable PS4 and PS5 games, and will cost $14.99 per month, $39.99 for three months, or $99.99 per year. Premium will include all benefits from both of the other plans, as well as time-limited game trials, classic PlayStation games, and access to cloud streaming, and will cost $17.99 per month, $49.99 for three months, or $119.99 per year.
