WWE 2K22 Receives a Complete Gameplay Overhaul

WWE2K Franchise Creative Director Lynell Jinks and Art Director Christina Diem Pham hosted the first episode of the WWE 2K22 Ringside Report. This series is meant to showcase the changes and improvements in WWE 2K22. The first episode is all about how much has changed since 2K20.

One of the first topics discussed is the improved graphics. Characters look much more realistic compared to 2K20 and games before it. Jinks and Diem Pham both consider this to be the best-looking WWE game yet. Jinks said that the team at Visual Concepts made use of the same scanning technology used in NBA 2K22 to accurately capture an athlete’s likeness. This has resulted in improvements such as improved hair and detail to wrestlers’ faces.

The next topic of discussion was the gameplay. Members of the gameplay team discussed what had changed in WWE 2K22 while gameplay of a match between Rey Mysterio and Damian Priest was shown. There have been changes to the game’s animations that make it look smoother and feel more realistic. The default camera angle during matches has also been changed to feel more like an actual WWE broadcast.

There are no more limited reversals. Instead, players can now reverse infinitely. Players can also dodge, block, or interrupt attacks using the new breaker system. These changes have been made so that the game is easier to play for people who have never played a WWE game before. For more information on the changes made to WWE 2K22, check out the full Ringside Report here on YouTube.

WWE 2K22 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 11, 2022.
