Simmers, Happy New Years! We wanted to start off the New Year the right way by bringing you some of our favorite mods you can use to start the new year of 2023 for your Sims. We know that real life sucks and your Sims are probably living their best lives in your game, so, why not add a bit of realism? Sims is still a game people are clinging onto because of the freedom you can have and adding mods really is a game changer. If you’re a new player or a veteran you’re going to want to see the top realistic mods for Sims 4 gameplay for 2023.
Realistic Mods for Sims 4
Mods are common to use in the Sims community because you can add plenty of game changing elements to your game. If you want to watch Sims die in the funniest way possible you need to install a mod for it. Do you want your Sims to start using beauty products while they bathe? Mod to the rescue! How about dancing normally in a club? Guess what? Creators have made mods to give you plenty of new dance moves your Sims can use. In this list we’re going to be showing you our favorite mods to use for the new year to add a bit of realism in your Sims 4 gameplay. These mods are compatible and have been patched for the latest Sims 4 patch update 1.93.146.

1. Custom Nupitals – Adeepindigo
Do you feel like your game lacks the necessary steps to getting married? When Wedding Stories was released everyone was excited. Until we noticed that the game lacked quite a few steps that are important when getting engaged. In Custom Nupitals you can go out to buy an engagement ring before they can propose, book a honeymoon, have different social interaction options, and set up a registry so your couple can have gifts sent to them. There’s tons of other features added in this mod and it’s one of our favorites to use for the new year. 2. SNB Bills – SimRealist
Do you love paying rent? How about paying for utilities? In real life, probably not so much. In Sims it’s very different. Some of us actually are amused when we can’t pay the bills and have to resort to other interesting ways to make money. In SNB Bills by SimRealist you can pay for your electricity, utilities, property taxes, internet and more. Are you Sims broke and need assistance? Not to worry, because the mod offers Government assistance and child support. The best feeling we got from this mod was seeing that child support come in from our dead beat baby daddy. This mod was created by SimRealist and they make plenty of realistic mods that you can use religiously in your gameplay.
3. Woohoo Consent – Chingyu1023
We know that before you can WooHoo with your Sims they have a conversation about it before hopping into bed. What we don’t know is if they really are consenting to it? In this mod you can finally choose to consent to woohoo. You can also determine if this Sim should just stay a friend or say no to hooking up temporarily. In the new year, we want there to be open communication because we’re leaving broken hearts and confusion for last year. You can also add Chingyu1023 other mods that allow you to check out a Sim or be faithful in a relationship.
4. Functional Personal Care Products – CeCeGalore
This is a mod we didn’t think we needed but it adds so much realism into the game. The art of taking a bath or taking a shower is part of self-care. In 2023, we need more self-care and CeCeGalore is bringing that to Sims. Your Sim can finally purchase functional body washes and other products that will give them a buff. Want your sim to smell like berries and cotton candy? The buff will make them happy, flirty, or confident. You can access the body shop from your phone in the gifts section where you can make purchases that will wind up in your inventory. We’re going to go now and buy all of the scrubs and lotions so our Sims can take care of themselves.
5. Cookbook & Functional Alcohol – Somik & Severinka
You can’t ring in the New Year without champagne! This is a two part mod that requires you to download the cook book first. Adding the cook book from Somik and Severinka gives you even more food and drink options your Sims can make. Want to enjoy festive cookies for the New Year? How about making some yummy appetizers to make your neighbors jealous? After you have downloaded the cook book you need to check out the different beverages your Sims can use. Purchase bottles of wine, cans of beer, whiskey, vodka and many more drinks. Your Sim will get a buff after they drink alcohol and it’s just delightful seeing a party have actual alcohol scattered around. Check out all of their yummy foods on their Patreon!
6. Dangerous Dour Career – MuvaSimmer
Basemental Drugs gave us the opportunity to have functional drugs added into your gameplay and you can become a drug dealer, however, this is so sketchy when weed these days are legal. In MuvaSimmer’s Dangerous Dour Career you can join a legit career at a dispensary. You will be able to climb the ranks and choose whether or not you want to become a Cultivation Specialist or a Medical Cannabis Pharmacist. Use skills such as gardening, fitness, and more so you can become promoted from a delivery driver to something more. You might want to also check out MuvaSimmer different traits such as stoner to add even more realism into the game.
7. Only Sims – Maia Game
There are plenty of mods out there where you can become a stripper, prostitute, or become a sugar baby. Now, your Sim can take pictures of themselves and upload them to their Only Sims account. In Maia Game’s mod Only Sims you can take sexy photos, depending on your charisma level, will determine how much money you can actually make. The highest a Sim can earn can range from 300 to 400 simoleans. If you take a lot of sexy pics you can expect your fame level to grow so don’t be shocked if you become a celebrity in the Only Sims world. The mod adds a new icon on your phone so it’s easy to access.
8. FlicBuster – Lot 51
We know DVD’s aren’t really common these days and if they are, well, where exactly do you put them? Just joking we know how to use DVD’s. In this mod you can rent DVD’s and watch movies without needing to pay for internet. This is perfect for Sims that are young moving out and can’t afford Simzlink connection. Lot 51 allows you to rent DVD’s for the small fee of 1 simolean. You can also have the opportunity to make your own boot leg DVD’s Why is this mod perfect for the new year? We’re done stressing. Just pop in a movie and take a day off. You deserve it.
9. Advanced Baby Care Mod – Grumpy
Are you tired of your babies being objects in The Sims 4? With this mod you finally can bring a bit of realism to your children by taking care of their medical needs. The minute your child is born you will gain access to their medical records. Once you have the baby set up in your home you can use your phone to make appointments to check on their well being. A doctor can either come visit you at your home or you can go to the doctors yourself. Your doctor will offer you advice on how you can improve your child’s well-being.
10. Express Delivery Shopping Apps – QMBBiBi
What’s something Sims lacks that we use consistently in real life? We’re always buying stuff online and having it delivered to us! With this mod you can get items from Barnes and Nobles, Home Depot, Chewy, and many more stores! Enjoy a realistic shopping experience from the comfort of your own phone. When you click on the icon in your phone you will see tons of options to buy items from stores. Do you have a dog and need toys or food for them? Shop at Chewy! What about if your Sim is running out of face masks? Sephora has got you covered. You can even purchase electronic items from Best Buy and Apple. This is one of our favorite mods because of how often we make purchases and seeing those delivery boxes in front of our door is so soothing.
How to add Mods in the Sims 4
If you want to add these mods to your Sim game you need to first pick the mod you like and then click the download link. Once you have the zip file you’re going to want to unzip it. Place the folder that contains the package files and script files into your mods folder. Important to know that when you place mods that have script files be sure to have them only in one folder and not in sub folders. Package files can be in multiple folders if you want to organize them. Make sure your game settings allows script mods and that’s it!
